After India Tour Of West Indies Rohit Sharma Will Decide His Future In Test Cricket With BCCI Know Details

Rohit Sharma’s Test Captaincy: Rohit Sharma’s captaincy has been questioned ever since he lost the final of the World Test Championship played against Australia. He is also said to be removed from the captaincy. Now the report has revealed that Rohit Sharma may lose the Test captaincy after the two Test matches played on the West Indies tour.

Although there is no threat to the captaincy of Rohit Sharm, but he will have to perform well in the two Test matches to be played against the West Indies. After West Indies tour, maybe Rohit Sharma will sit with BCCI and decide his future in Tests. According to those who are aware of the events of Team India, unless Rohit Sharma himself wants, he cannot step down from the captaincy on the West Indies tour.

Talking to the news agency ‘PTI’ on the condition of confidentiality, a senior BCCI official said, “These are all baseless talks that Rohit Sharma will be removed from the captaincy. Yes, will he last the full two-year WTC cycle is a big question as he will be around 38 when the third edition ends in 2025.

The official said, “At the moment I believe that Shiv Sundar Das and his teammates will have to decide after two Tests and see their batting form.” The BCCI works very differently from other sports organizations.

The official further added, “After the West Indies, we do not have any Test matches till December when the team will tour South Africa. That’s why the selectors will have enough time to decide. By the time the fifth selector (new chairman) also joins the panel, a decision can be taken.”

Those in the know of Indian developments know that Virat Kohli had given up the captaincy after losing the series against Africa and initially Rohit was not keen on becoming the Test captain as he did not know whether his body would be able to support him or not.

The official further added, “At that time two top people (former BCCI president Sourav Ganguly and current secretary Jay Shah) persuaded Rohit Sharma to take over the captaincy as KL Rahul could not impress as captain in South Africa. Rohit has not been able to score the kind of runs that is expected from a player of his caliber, except for a brilliant inning of 120 runs against Australia on a challenging Nagpur pitch.
